Mammoth desalination equipment shipped to  The king-size desalination equipment is seen loaded on board a vessel at Doosan Vina, a Korean heavy industry manufacturer based in central Vietnam, announced Monday the completion of its newly-made desalination equipment about the size of a football (soccer) field under an order from a Saudi Arabian partner. The 4,500-ton equipment was loaded on board a vessel, docking at The loading process took employees of the company, inaugurated in May 2009 under a joint venture between two Korean companies, Doosan Engineering & Construction and Doosan Heavy Industry Inc, as long as four hours due to its mammoth size. The desalination equipment measures 34.4 meters wide by 143 meters long by 15 meters high and is capable of converting seawater into nearly 95 million liters of freshwater a day. It is the first out of three such complexes to be made under the Yanbu Phase 3 project to serve the Yanbu Power and Desalination Plant, based in the Saudi Arabian western city of The Yanbu Phase 3 is expected to produce around 377 million liters of freshwater on a daily basis to meet the demand of more than 1 million Saudi Arabian citizens. The US$1.47 billion deal was closed between Doosan Group and the Arabian state in March 2013. Doosan Heavy Industry boasts a 46 percent share in the global marine freshwater generator market.
